Alfrieda Street Masterplan Consultation
Brimbank City Council - 2022
St Albans, VIC
Overview
Brimbank City Council is developing a Masterplan for the streetscape upgrade of the commercial hub Alfrieda Street in St. Albans. For Stage 2 of the Masterplan, Council is undertaking extensive community consultation that includes online and interceptive feedback collection.
As part of this process, Council set up three consultation dates at different times and spots along Alfrieda Street. Localite was engaged to plan and deliver a series of activations that would welcome locals and visitors to stop and interact.
Challenge
Create an engaging event program that would take place alongside community consultation and attract people from all walks of life.
Being able to quickly adapt to changes in weather conditions, political appetite, and logistic challenges.
Create a ‘street party’ vibe that would enliven the busy area in a safe way without interruptions to vehicular traffic.
Solution
A tiered 10-hour program divided into three days featured talented Victorian artists and entertainers.
The activities focused on engaging the audience whether by making art, dancing, or playing.
Result
A successful community consultation with significant collected responses. Consultation metrics will be shared by Council on: https://yoursay.brimbank.vic.gov.au/alfrieda-st-master-plan.
